TAG HEBREW SCHOOL

Richmond, VA

 A Message from the Principal

For a long time the community in Richmond, VA has been asking for it ... for a long time we at Chabad have been thinking about  it ... and now it is a reality!

The TAG - Hebrew School  opened on September 2007.  We started with 28 students and finished our first year of activities with 58.  And now 2009/10 we have 79 students enrolled in K - 12.

Our program exists with one goal in mind - to offer all Jewish children a hands-on exciting Jewish experience that will inspire them for a lifetime. Our school caters to Jewish families from all walks of life. We welcome every Jew, regardless of religious background or level of observance. It is for this reason that our school does not require any membership or prior affiliations as a condition for enrollment.

Oh ... and you may be wondering what TAG- our school name means? Well, ... there is a very famous saying from the Sages: "The world stands upon three pillars: Torah, Avodah/Prayer, and Gemilut Chasadim/Acts of kindness. [Pirkei Avot 1:2]. So there you have it - that is TAG. And yes You are it! We all have been tagged to uphold the world according to these three pillars. All of us regardless of where we are currently in our beliefs, observance, affiliation, etc. You are Jewish ... TAG -YOU'RE IT! These are the basic principles we will teach your kids - Torah, enthusiasm for Judaism, and kindness to all.

Rabbi Shlomo Pereira, School Director
